UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANT

ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH FOR DR. KACY L. HOLLENBACK

August 2018 - Present

  • Performed magnetic susceptibility on soil samples taken from Fort Clark State Historic Site and Sakakawea Village

  • Analyzed the different uses of space after the transition from circular earth lodges to rectangular cabins

  • Conducted wear acid extractions and soil chemical analysis on samples from an Arikara cabin at Fort Clark State Historic Site

LITTLE EGYPT EXCAVATION

VOLUNTEER

October - December 2018

  • Excavated test pits on historic Freedman's town site in Dallas, Texas (Little Egypt)

  • Project goals were to expand knowledge of post-emancipation and segregation-era African American life in Dallas

PICURIS PUEBLO FIELD SCHOOL

STUDENT & VOLUNTEER

May 2018 - July 2018

  • Volunteered with Arizona University and Columbia University students to clean and reorganize the Picuris Pueblo Museum

  • Archived, re-cataloged, and rehoused artifacts (groundstone, chipped stone, faunal remains, and ceramics) in Fort Burgwin's artifact repository

  • Presented tribal elders with artifacts from the repository that were repatriated for use in their museum

  • Excavated site of Spanish Convento destroyed in the 1680 Pueblo Revolt

OFFICE OF GEORGE W. BUSH

INTERN

January 2023 - June 2024

  • The youngest intern ever hired for the position

  • Answered all incoming calls and recorded messages from superiors

  • Drafted and sent retirement letters, invitations, and responses to general requests

  • Organized the office and ran errands

LEADERSHIP POSITIONS

PRESIDENT OF THE ANTHROPOLOGY CLUB

2019 - 2020

  • Revitalized the club after it had been inactive for three years and redrafted the constitution

  • Organized fundraisers that provided the finances possible to invite speakers and lecturers 

  • Supervised and organized events

  • Directed officer meetings and managed the responsibilities of other officers

  • Led review sessions for students enrolled in the intro-level classes before final exams

LEADER ON AN ARCHAEOMETRIC PROJECT

2019

  • Created a partnership with Bridwell Library Special Collections

  • Composed project proposal for archaeometric methods to be done on an artifact from the A.V. Lane Collection at Bridwell Library

DEPARTMENTAL DISTINCTION

May 2020

  • Conducted research on firing behaviors of Hidatsa pottery

  • Looked at culture contact and the effect of population decline and epidemic diseases on specialized craft production

  • Will present at the Plains Anthropological Society's and the Society for American Archaeology's annual meetings
